Break the Rules! Unleash your Creative Anarchist
Thursday, May 7 • 10:15 – 11:00am
When is it appropriate — even necessary — to break the design rules that have influenced your work since you were in school? In this session, you’ll learn to throw design caution to the wind with on-the-spot creative exercises infused with strategies, tips and trends that will have you rethinking your approach to design.
We learned the rules of design from our creative directors, mentors and professors. We follow the rules, create great design and have happy clients. But not every project calls for a design that follows the rules. Some projects need to bend them a little — or a lot — to communicate the message. Other projects need to break the rules entirely.
How can you tell when it’s the right time to bend or break the rules? Creative anarchy is about pushing not only your own boundaries and expectations but those of the client as well. This anarchy-laden session will reveal how you can straddle the rules, bend the rules, and plain ol' break the rules, yet still maintain effective communication and satisfy client demands.
3 Main Take- Aways:
- Learn to push creative boundaries while still working within the client brief.
- Cultivate your inner anarchist and learn to effectively channel it.
- Fight creative fatigue through invigorating and inventive design exercises.
