The Hon. Isobel Redmond MP

Isobel has been a Member of Parliament since 2002, representing the state seat of Heysen which stretches from Stirling to Strathalbyn, and from Coromandel to Mt Barker.

A lawyer by training, Isobel worked at law firms in the city and Murray Bridge, as well as raising three children.

She set up her own legal practice in Stirling and practised there for eight years before entering Parliament and ceasing to practice as a lawyer.

Isobel has had a long commitment to community and public service. She served on the Stirling District Council in the early 1980’s and served on the local hospital Board from then until 2010.

She was a member of the Stirling Rotary Club for 15 years.

As Leader of the South Australian Liberal Party, Isobel Redmond’s Shadow portfolios are the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Arts and Multicultural Affairs.

Isobel has chosen the 'Be active every day' goal.

Week 3 update

Since becoming Opposition Leader my life has become a lot busier. I am fortunate to be out meeting South Australians most nights of the week. As Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs I am treated to foods from all over the world. However, eating out most nights means I have lost a large degree of control over the food I eat. During the Healthy Heart Challenge I aim to increase my fruit and veg intake to two and five serves respectively and only use olive oil for cooking. I value healthy eating and I want to use this challenge to show it can be maintained even with a busy lifestyle.

Week 6 update

This week I’ve been working on making smarter, healthy eating choices at the functions I attend. I spent a couple of days in Port Pirie meeting local business and community leaders and talking to locals about issues that affect them. I was so grateful for the hospitality of the Port Pirie community but tried not to indulge in unnecessary treats.
