The software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) is a specific application of SDN technology intended to reduce complexity through abstraction and improve agility through automation of enterprise network VPNs. The scope of SD-WAN includes securely connecting head offices, branch offices, private data centers and public clouds with a dynamic and optimized datapath over multiple broadband access technologies. Nuage Networks from Nokia has developed a solution for automating service provisioning and adding intelligence to the connectivity of enterprise branch locations using open architecture CPE devices. The Nuage Virtualized Network Services (VSN) offers provisioning automation with centralized policy based management allowing enterprises to consume cloud-based and bandwidth intensive applications over fixed and mobile broadband Internet with enhanced security.
This tutorial will review the technology behind the VNS solution including the use of IPSEC, performance based routing and on-net/off-net service chaining in sufficient detail so that participants can understand the protocols and interfaces used in the data, control and management planes and engage in discussion of the how to make use of the technology, participate in hands on workshops and gain perspective on new features being delivered in the next release. |
