Expenses & Currencies

Shipboard Account

All program transportation, meals and activities as specified in the GO PLACES with GOJO itinerary are furnished to you at no cost. To enable you to make cash-less transactions on board the Seabourn Odyssey, a shipboard account will be set up upon embarkation when a credit card is registered.

Although most services on board Seabourn are included in your cruise (such as restaurant dining, room service, complimentary spirits and wines, entertainment programs and the services of a highly trained staff), discretionary purchases such as those listed below will be charged to your shipboard account.

  • Dry cleaning, laundry and valet service
  • Premium liquor and wine
  • Beauty salon, massage and other spa treatments
  • Internet, telephone calls, and faxes
  • Medical consultation and medication
  • Gift Shop purchases
  • Casino charges

The evening prior to your final disembarkation from the ship, a detailed statement of your shipboard charges will be delivered to your suite and processed automatically at the end of the voyage. You may settle your account using major credit cards including American Express, Diner’s Club, Discover, MasterCard or Visa; Traveler’s Checks or cash. Personal checks are not accepted.

Gratuities

GOJO will take care of gratuities relating to arrival/departure day porterage, maids, wait staff, tour guides for GOJO sponsored excursions and group functions. Gratuities for meals, non-GOJO sponsored excursions or services while ashore are not included and left to your discretion.

Currency and Credit Cards

The currency on board the ship is the U.S. dollar. Traveler’s Checks are highly recommended and may be cashed at the Seabourn Square Reception Desk 24-hours a day. Personal checks cannot be honored. Cash advances against your onboard account of any form of credit card are limited and at a 3% service charge. For small purchases during excursions and touring, we recommend you exchange some of your funds at a bank before leaving home. Most international airports also exchange funds though they often charge a higher exchange fee.

The Euro is the currency used in all the ports of call. If you plan to make any major purchases in the ports of call, it is recommended you use major credit cards wherever they are accepted. Please be aware that much of Europe uses a Chip and Pin System for credit cards, as opposed to our chip and signature system. It is recommended to contact your bank well before your trip to request your card's PIN (if your bank says the PIN is only for cash withdrawals, ask for it anyway). Be sure to allow time to receive your PIN by mail.

Larger stores and shops accept cards without the Chip and Pin feature. Smaller establishments may not be aware of the manual override needed to process the standard U.S./Canadian credit card. For this reason, you might want to carry your ATM debit card, which will allow you to access ATM cash machines. Traveler’s Checks are also widely accepted.

Additional Expenses

Payment for any expenses that result in a deviation from the group program must be received before cruise and airline documents are mailed to you. For example, if you change your air itinerary and it results in a higher cost, you will be billed for the difference in airfare. Charges for airline ticket change fees can be settled via credit card.

The optional shore excursions that are not sponsored by GOJO are at your own expense. During registration you will input your credit card information to settle any charges for your excursion selections. We recommend you select your excursions during the online registration process to ensure you receive your preferred excursions.
