Health & Safety

Arrival back to your home country

Testing requirements for travel back to your home country vary. We encourage you to refer to your country’s Embassy site.

You may need a negative covid test to return to your home country following the conference. For example, boarding a flight to the United States, you are required to show a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than 1 day before travel.

Here are IWF’s recommendations for Testing in Chile

1)    Option 1 – Buy a test ahead of time and bring it with you!

We recommend purchasing and packing the "Abbott BinaxNOW™ COVID-19 Ag Card Home Test with eMed Telehealth Services." An at-home test must include telehealth services in order to be accepted for re-entry to the United States.

You can purchase your kit here. IWF will not have any kits available for purchase on-site.

2)    Option 2 – Reserve an appointment at Genosur

Location:  Av Vitacura 2905, Las Condes, Región Metropolitana, Chile, 10 minute walk from W Santiago. Please click here to make your appointment.  Turn around time: 4 hours Cost: $30 USD (CLP $25.000). Please note this fee is nonrefundable.

Note: Please note that English is not widely spoken at the clinic. When you arrive, you’ll see 4 very long lines with different timed groups. We recommend arriving 20 – 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. In our personal experience the timed groups move quickly.  It is important that you bring your passport and appointment confirmation email with you.

What if I test positive? Follow these 3 steps:

  1. Quarantine in your hotel room. If you test positive, you will need to quarantine in your hotel room for 7 days. On Day 8, we recommend going to Clínica Alemana, an English speaking hospital (contact details below) to take another PCR test. Even if you are testing positive, Clínica Alemana can provide a note of recovery so that you can board your flight home. Please note that it is Chilean law if you are cohabitating with someone both need to quarantine, even if one is testing negative.
  2. Please inform the IWF Global team so they can let the hotel know. Please email Mary Guido at mguido@iwforum.org so she can put you in contact with the hotel who be your main points of contact. The hotel will honor the IWF block rate for your extended stay.
  3. Extend your special travel insurance – be sure to contact the carrier you obtained your special travel insurance from to extend your coverage.
