IWF Town Hall – A Matter of Life or Death: Women, Aging and Inequities in Healthcare
Ritz-Carlton
Grand Ballroom
It is no secret that women deal with inequities in health care, but the biases and the discrimination grow even more pronounced as women get older.
Data show that the health of aging women is often viewed as “less important.” They may not get the appropriate diagnostic tests, are less likely to get high tech or aggressive treatment and are less likely to be treated for pain.
In this Town Hall, we’re going to explore why this is the case, and discuss what we can do individually and collectively to change it.

W Santiago

Chile is a world leader in renewables. The country produces more than a third of its energy from solar, wind, hydropower, and biomass, and aims to become carbon neutral by 2050. Chile is ideally positioned to lead in another aspect of clean energy: Green Hydrogen. With extraordinary access to water because of its 4,000-mile coastline and a diverse and abundant renewable energy supply, Chile is ready to become a global powerhouse in deploying this cutting-edge technology to reduce carbon emissions.
We will consider both the policy and practical implications of Green Hydrogen on global energy transition and decarbonization.

Chile is an astronomer’s paradise. Its clear skies, low light pollution and dry atmosphere make it a destination for scientists seeking to understand the cosmos. The unparalleled view of the southern sky provides a window on the universe for those exploring stars, planets, galaxies, dark matter, and even the possibility of life elsewhere. Home of the world’s largest telescope, the country is a scientific hub where research is being conducted on the origin and formation of the universe and the discovery of exoplanets. As we explore the world beyond our own, we may discover solutions to challenges here on earth and the existence of potentially habitable planets.
Join us as Astronomers, Dr. Mónica Rubio and Dr. María Teresa Ruiz take us on this exciting new journey through space and discuss how looking up can help us understand life on earth and beyond.
