With a passion for jigsaw puzzles and seeing how all the pieces come together to make a full picture, Mike Carr, Esq. utilizes his advanced knowledge in law and taxation to assist individuals and businesses plan for the long-term creating a picture of health for his clients. Having received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and history, Mike then worked to achieve his Juris Doctorate and a Masters of Taxation in the 1980s.

Developing his skills over the years, Mike is now a partner at one of Pittsburgh’s most prestigious law firms, Jones, Gregg, Creehan & Gerace, LLP where he focuses on managing the firm’s estate planning and estate administration department. In this position, he is able to utilize his love for solving puzzles by assisting clients with succession planning, setting up business entities, asset protection planning and tax planning to once again create a solid picture of organizational health. In regards to the real estate industry, this is particularly important considering the potential volume of properties to be managed and appropriately prepared to be passed on to the next generation.

Through proper business development, management and succession planning in addition to utilizing various recognized tax strategies, the owner’s taxes may be reduced thereby making the real estate or business in question more profitable. Mike has presented to both consumer and professional groups on the matters of various income taxation and estate planning issues and wealth management. Mike is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States Tax Court and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.

  • Established the Western Pennsylvania Special Needs Children’s Alliance which has served several hundred families to date.

  • Established the Western Pennsylvania Special Needs Children’s Alliance which, on a yearly basis, sponsors a Special Needs Rodeo featuring therapeutic horse riding for children that have autism and other special needs.
  • Frequent speaker to consumer and professional groups on the subjects of estate planning, special needs trusts, elder law, and wealth management.
  • Prepared and presented seminars discussing various income taxation and estate planning issues affecting Marcellus Shale leases and royalty payments.
