Why does Mining Indaba charge South African VAT if it is not a South African corporation?
Mining Indaba™ is not a South African corporation, however, SARS is very clear on the fact that VAT is destination based, which means that the consumption of goods and services in South Africa is taxed. VAT is therefore paid on the supply of goods or services in South Africa as well as on the importation of goods or services into South Africa. As a result, Mining Indaba™ is eligible primarily based on the fact that the services provided are consumed in South Africa regardless of our resident status.
We are then mandated by law to assess VAT on all services that will be consumed within South Africa (regardless of our customer’s country of origin).
How can I rent a meeting room?
There are a limited number of meeting rooms available to sponsoring companies. To enquire about meeting room availabilty or to become a sponsor please contact Fred Noce at fred.noce@miningindaba.com or by phone at (US) +1-619-656-9263.
Why do I or my company have to pay VAT? We are exempt from income tax and/or VAT.
