Official Mining Indaba Gala dinner (invitation only) – Taking place on the evening of Monday 8th February 2016


  • Investment Discovery Forum (IDF) - incorporated into Mining Indaba as a conference track which is specifically targeted at the investors – it will run in the Westin Hotel during the afternoons of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
  • More market themed panels – with the integration of the commodity review into the main stage content there will be more opportunity for mining companies to participate in panel discussions on the main stage
  • Corporate mining presentations– these will be largely made up of 3 x 15min corporate presentations followed by a panel discussion between the 3 CEO’s that have delivered their presentations
  • Country Case Studies (formerly named Geocentric Investor Clinics) – These will target specific countries in Africa with interesting stories and will include a combination of expert insights, investors, government and companies actively mining in a specific country
  • MI Young Leaders Career Development Programme - Offering complimentary opportunities for graduates to come to the conference and meet with mining companies. This will include a series of presentations on career development as well as a meet and greet with a few CEOs of mining companies
  • Speed networking– We will run 3x30 minute speed networking sessions in an allocated area on the exhibition floor. They will be commodity specific. The individuals participating will be given 2 minutes to make introductions/exchange business cards before being asked to rotate.
  • Networking roundtables- There will be 8-10 round tables running from 11:30 to 13:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday. 40 minutes will be allocated to each discussion before delegates will be asked to rotate to a different table. The round tables will be ‘Sustainability’ themed on Tuesday and will address ‘Infrastructure development’ on Wednesday.


Building the launch of the VIP Investor Programme in 2015, the investor programme has expanded to include varying levels of investors.
  • All investors have to apply for accreditation. Once approved, they receive:
    • Complimentary access to Mining Indaba and IDF
    • Private and customized access to the Business Matchmaking Programme, and direct access to the Director of Investor Relations to better tailor their overall experience at the event
  • Currently those investors with significant assets under management within the mining sector are eligible for the Platinum (VIP) level services which includes concierge services and access to the investor lounge.
  • New Director of Investor Relations
    • Will work directly with accredited investors to customize their experience at Mining Indaba, giving them direct access to investment targets of interest
    • Will seek out investors who should be attending the Mining Indaba and the IDF and cultivate relationships with them to bring them in.
    • Arrange one on one meetings for investors


  • IDF investor registration is now part of the Mining Indaba investor registration. This provides investors with a streamlined registration process
    • It is easier and more convenient for accredited investors to have access to more applicable content and attend sessions for both Mining Indaba and IDF
  • The IDF programme will be interwoven into the main Mining indaba website to provide more access to the Mining Indaba audience.


  • The online programme will be refined to better customize the experience for investor delegates.
  • Investors will have access to a private section to seek out mining companies.
