EXCELLENCE IN START-UP INNOVATIONS AWARD

  

HIMSS Asia Pacific is searching for outstanding start-up innovations that drive better healthcare outcomes. We call upon regional start-up organizations, innovators and solution providers to submit your application for this challenge. Show us how disruptive innovations can promote patient-physician engagement, encourage team-based care and lead to safer practices. Regardless of size, superior innovations can go behind providing clinically relevant health information. If your innovation has what it takes, participate and showcase!

Is my Organization Eligible?
  • Must be a registered/incorporated entity
  • Has been incorporated/registered as business for not more than 5 years
  • Annual turnover in any preceding financial year must not exceed SGD 1 million
  • Has less than 50 staff members

What Should I Participate?

1 Winner will be picked, and will receive:
  • A trophy and certificate during the HIMSS AsiaPac Awards Dinner
  • 2 Complimentary passes to attend the annual HIMSS AsiaPac Awards Dinner
  • Exposure to APAC-wide audience pre-conference and on-site
  • Industry-wide recognition and media attention through HIMSS Asia Pacific

Award Judging Process & Criteria

Each submission will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by HIMSS Asia Pacific based on: 
  • Innovation and differentiation: What challenge does your innovation seek to resolve?
  • How does it differ from similar solutions in the market?
  • Multi-dimensional impacts (both short and long term): On patients, consumers, professionals, the user, the economy (if applicable)
  • Benefits from using the innovation: Clinical and non-clinical (e.g. cost savings)

How do I Participate?

Timeline:
  • Call for submission deadline: 31 May 2017
    *All submissions will be reviewed prior to confirmation of submission acceptance.
  • Shortlisted submission may be contacted for additional detailed information, upon request by the judging panel
  • The judging panel will select one winner from the shortlisted submissions
  • Winner will be informed by HIMSS Asia Pacific via email in August
  • Winner will be recognized at the HIMSS AsiaPac Awards Dinner

David Chua

Cluster Director of Health Cluster,
Government Technology Agency of Singapore

David is the Cluster Director for the Health Cluster at the Government Technology Agency of Singapore, where he leads the ICT teams of the Health Agencies to deliver the agencies' business objectives and Smart Nation initiatives. These include the Ministry of Health (MoH), Health Promotion Board (HPB) and Health Sciences Authority (HSA). At the same time, David also holds a concurrent portfolio as the Director of IT in the Ministry of Health, where he is responsible for the strategic planning, execution and operations of the MInistry's ICT systems.

Prior to joining GovTech, David was an Account Director with HP Enterprise Services (now known as DXC Technology), where he oversees the business development, sales, and service delivery for the entire public sector accounts. At HP, he was responsible to drive both financial growth and service delivery excellence in the accounts under him. During his tenure, he had grown the public sector business on top of transforming the delivery processes to constantly innovate and deliver quality services to his clients.

David holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore.



Danny Smolders

Vice President of APAC
ExtraHop Networks


Danny Smolders is the Vice President for Asia Pacific at ExtraHop Networks, where he leads all sales, channel, and business development efforts. With deep experience in the ICT industry building and leading multi-national, multi-discipline teams, Danny plays a central role in expanding the company's presence in the region, developing and executing around key strategic business, sales, and marketing efforts.

Prior to joining ExtraHop, Danny was the Portfolio Solutions Sales Director for APAC at Riverbed where he was responsible for aligning marketing, sales and product business units in support of core strategic business initiatives. 

Danny hols a bachelor's degree in Economics from Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe College in Belgium and a post-graduate diploma in Management from the Stansfield Business School in Singapore. He received his MBA from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia.

ExtraHop was also the winner of the 2016 HIMSS AsiaPac Innovations Challenge.



Dr. Jenny Shao

Director, Health Information Systems
United Family Healthcare, China


Dr. Jenny Shao has been working with United Family Healthcare (UFH) since 2004 and is responsible for strategic planning, goals setting on hospital information system provision for the organization, as well as for both clinical and business workflow implementation, adoption and transformation.
Prior to joining UFH, she worked in Liverpool Hospital, Sydney South West Area Health Service, conducted and led various clinical research programs in oncology, vascular, renal and woman and child health. Dr. Jenny Shao received her MD from Yangzhou Medical College in China, practiced as Obstetrician and Gynecologist for 3 years in a local public hospital. She gained a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Sydney.
Dr. Jenny Shao is also a member of the HIMSS Asia Pacific Governing Council.




Simon Lin

Executive Director
HIMSS Asia Pacific


Simon Lin is Executive Director, HIMSS Asia Pacific, part of HIMSS, a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information technology (IT). HIMSS leads efforts to optimize health engagements and care outcomes using information technology.

At HIMSS, Lin is responsible for the development of the Society’s programs in Asia Pacific. During his tenure, he has grown HIMSS’ Asia Pacific’s presence through partnerships with regional ministries and associations. He also develops and sets the strategic direction for HIMSS Asia Pacific and provides support to Middle East conferences. Lin previously served as International Exhibits Manager and General Manager at HIMSS.

Simon holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce from Curtin University Technology.
