Call for Abstracts

The International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC), Geo-Institute of the ASCE (G-I), Deep Foundations Institute (DFI), and Pile Driving Contractors Association (PDCA) will again join together to host the International Foundations Congress and Equipment Exposition (IFCEE 2018) at the Buena Vista Palace in Orlando, Florida from March 5-10, 2018.  The program will include technical paper sessions, panel discussions, indoor exhibits, an outdoor equipment exposition, educational short courses, technical committee meetings, and networking events.

The technical program will include keynote lectures delivered in plenary sessions and technical sessions with multiple concurrent tracks.  The Congress will also feature the G-I’s annual Peck, Seed, and Terzaghi Lectures, the DFI’s annual Osterberg and Gerwick Lectures, ADSC’s O’Neill Lecture, and PDCA’s inaugural E.A.L. Smith Lecture.

The Technical Program Committee invites high-quality submissions of both technical papers and case histories to the premier foundations congress in the world.  Papers are welcomed across a broad-range of topics within the geo-industry., however, abstracts with a foundations focus are encouraged.  Papers that reflect the varied viewpoints of stakeholders are also encouraged: general and specialty contractors, consulting and design engineers, policy makers, owners, researchers, educators, and students.  Collaborative submissions from a team of stakeholders (for example, a designer and a contractor) are particularly welcomed.

Sessions will include papers addressing all aspects of geotechnical engineering design and analysis, construction, testing, quality assurance, contracts and procurement, research, and case histories.  Case history papers are also particularly welcome, and should include a “lessons learned” component.

General topics of interest include:

-  Analysis and Design

- Design for Extreme Events

- Earth Retention and Stabilization

-  Deep Foundations

-  Shallow Foundations

-  Energy Foundations: Wind, Transmission, Geothermal

-  Effects of Construction on Foundation Performance

-  Geo-Characterization

-  Geotechnology

-  Ground Improvement and Grouting

-  Innovative Contracting and Procurement

-  Quality Control/Quality Assurance

-  Risk and Reliability

-  Sustainability

-  Testing, Instrumentation, and Evaluation

This Call for Abstracts is being issued for papers to be included in the technical program sessions.  Both oral presentations and poster-sessions will be included in the program.  The committee will provide special recognition during the Congress to papers deemed of high quality and exceptional contribution to the geoprofessional industry.
