Vogue Knitting LIVE Recap!
Pasadena - April 2015
Vogue Knitting LIVE Pasadena was nonstop fun in the sun! The Pasadena Convention Center was home to three days of fashion, fiber, and education. Those in classes learned how to knit a sweater that will fit every time, how to work Fair Isle like a pro, how to make the cutest knit toys, and more! Our teachers brought their knowledge and enthusiasm to each subject, and students were buzzing with their new-found skills.
Between classes, knitters flooded the Marketplace, where they shopped til they dropped—many vendors SOLD OUT of their best products! And what amazing products they were, from every fiber of yarn to ombre sets to pom-pom makers to yarn bowls to beautiful jewelry and more. The Marketplace wasn’t just about shopping, either, with fashion shows on the main stage on Saturday and free lectures and panels on Sunday. Plus attendees could learn how to knit or crochet, learn their measurements, or sample new yarns in the Yarn Tasting. On Sunday, the Vogue Knitting Sample Sale let you walk out with your very own Vogue Knitting original—all the money went to Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles.
Mohair South Africa sponsored our cocktail party Saturday night, where ticket holders learned about mohair fiber and got to vote on their choice of winner in the Warmth of Mohair Blanket Design Competition. Ten gorgeous FINALIST blankets hung AT THE SHOW—the grand prize winner was Evening on the Beach by Sonja Biedernann. Runner-up Exotic Grace by Evelyn Siatra also won the People’s Choice Award that night! Crochet runner up Kitali by Kyla Anastasia wowed the crowd. The grand prize winner earned $2000.
Our staff is now back home in New York, which is far cooler than Pasadena was—but we soaked in not just the warmth from the sky, but also the warmth of our attendees. We give them a hearty thanks for making the event such fun, and we extend an even bigger thanks to those who made the event happen: our sponsors, vendors, teachers, and volunteers.
