Vogue Knitting LIVE Recap!

New York City—January 2011
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the New York Hilton in January for our very first Vogue Knitting LIVE. What an exciting weekend!

Our event began early on Friday, January 21, with a rollicking teacher’s meeting, after which more than 2,500 eager knitters—selecting from a menu of more than 250 classes taught by 50-plus of the most talented teachers in the knitting world—headed off to their first sessions. The instructors were unanimous in lauding their students not only for their knitting skills and eagerness to learn but for their infectious enthusiasm as well.

More than 6,000 fabulous knitters joined us to shop our boutique-style market and to experience the extras that made our show unique, including nine free fashion shows, numerous demonstrations, and a special gallery area filled with knitted artworks that included a 10-foot knit beluga whale that hung from the ceiling and anatomically-correct knitted animal pelts.

Knitterati, teachers, knitters, and market vendors joined us from around the globe—everywhere from Canada (quite a large contingent!) to England, Scotland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Australia. Our special guest Jackie Gant, from Mohair South Africa, the sponsor of our amazing Magic of Mohair Design Contest, presented contest winner Laura Zukaite with a free trip to South Africa to learn about all things mohair.

Those who could not be with us were kept up to date from the show floor via Twitter and Facebook, and instructor Josh Bennett was declared the mayor of Vogue Knitting LIVE on Foursquare.

We hope you can join us in Los Angeles for our next show. We'll be there September 23–25 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. We hope you will join us.
