Vogue Knitting LIVE Recap!

New York - January 2015

New York 2015

Wow! We celebrated our fifth Vogue Knitting LIVE NYC all weekend long at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square—and what fun we had!

Friday began with a day full of classes covering everything from special techniques to garment design to dyeing yarn to colorwork. Our special Marketplace preview opened that evening to hordes of eager knitters and crocheters, and later that night, we celebrated with Arne & Carlos at a cocktail party sponsored by the Norwegian Embassy. The knitters/comedians gave us an awe-inspiring presentation with pictures of their beautiful garden and told funny stories of life in Norway and the whimsical pieces they knit.

Over the weekend the Marketplace was buzzing with the most attendees we’ve ever had! Many stopped to see all the amazing artwork on display—a crocheted Great Wall of China, a refrigerator stocked full of knit food, Carol Milne’s knitted glass, and more amazing works—or to test out a yarn at the Yarn Tasting, or to go inside Ute Lemmark’s knit teepee. But eventually everyone made it inside the Marketplace, where they shopped til they dropped! While in the Marketplace they took photos in the photobooth and posted them with tips on our Purls of Wisdom wall, got to see the latest in designs on the fashion show stage (including the truly show-stopping Steven Be and Stephen West Spectacular!), could stop for a massage, and be professionally measured at the Fitting Station.

Topping off an incredible day was our Gala Dinner. It was even more special than usual, as we celebrated attendees and sponsors who’d been with us at all five shows. Later, we had an inspiring presentation from Julie Rubiner, a passionate knitter and the Facilitating Manager of Sweater Design at EILEEN FISHER, and finished with a fashion show featuring select Eileen Fisher knits and upcoming knits from Vogue Knitting’s Spring issue.

Celebrating our fifth anniversary made us truly grateful for all the support we’ve gotten from our readers and fans over the years. We’re thrilled that so many of you have attended all five years, and hope you join us for many more!
