New OPI Educator Licensure Renewal Information

Please note: College credits are not required to renew a Montana Class 1, 2, 3, or 6 License.  To renew a MT Class 1, 2, 3, or 6 license, educators much complete 60 professional development units or any combination of professional development units and semester/quarter college credits. Each semester credit is worth 15 professional development units.  Please visit the OPI Educator Licensure Renewal Webpage for additional details on renewal requirements for the different classes of MT educator licenses.   Teach Montana (TMT), the new state licensing system, will have a table set-up Tuesday and Wednesday of the Summer Institute if you have additional questions.

PLUs

For PLUs, you do not need to use the mobile app

If you are using attendance at the institute for Professional Learning Units PLU’s (formerly Renewal Units), you will need to check in when you arrive each day.  Upon completion of the Institute, you will be sent a record of your attendance at the Institute, your selected agenda, and the form that must be completed to receive OPI Professional Learning credit for the institute.  Please retain these for your records.

University Credit

For university credit you must either use the mobile app or a paper "passport" to verify your attendance for individual sessions.

There is a $250 charge for university credit.  You will need to send in a check with your completed materials.

For university credit, in addition to being checked in each day, you will be required to use the mobile app to submit an evaluation of each session attended to verify the specific sessions attended.  If you are unable to use the mobile app, you may use a paper "passport".  Passports are available at check in and also in the linked documents below.  You must have the presenter or the OPI room host initial the passport at each session.

Upon completion of the Institute, you will receive the standard email confirmation with the PLU attachment.  Please disregard the attachment but retain the confirmation.  If you have a paper passport, you can submit the confirmation, passport, required written materials and payment to receive credit.  If you use the mobile app, please contact Toni Lee for a summary record of the sessions for which you submitted an evaluation.

You will find all the necessary documents for university credit here.
