Onboard Fundraiser

Amazing "Freedom of the Seas" Race

Onboard FUNdraiser

Team up with friends, race the ship, win prizes ... and support children's literacy!

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023 (Day 3 of the cruise), we will be onboard cruising all day, which is the perfect time to fully explore the ship—and what better way than with a competitive scavenger hunt?!

By signing up to participate, you'll have the opportunity to win prizes and support Reach Out and Read Florida. Modern Woodmen will match all funds raised for this event.

Why a fundraiser?

Each year, Modern Woodmen brings members across the country together to support different causes.

Past national campaigns have raised awareness and funds for mental health, the homeless, people with disabilities, those who are food insecure, and more.

In 2023, the focus is on children's literacy to help ensure little learners and future leaders are set up for a lifetime of success. This is especially important after the blip in their education during the pandemic.

What to expect

  • Teams with up to 4 people.
  • Race to answer ship-related questions.
  • Win prizes!
  • Have fun for a good cause.

Donate during registration

We cannot accept donations onboard, so be sure to choose the option during registration in order to participate.

About Reach Out and Read

Reach Out and Read's national network of clinicians delivers vital information about the importance of reading at routine pediatric checkups. This means they have unmatched access to families during the years from birth to age three—a period of critical brain development.

During well visits, pediatricians talk with parents about the benefits of reading aloud and sharing with their young children beginning at birth. They show them how to hold books to best engage their children and how to interact with the text and images to help them follow along. They share advice for talking about stories with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Families gain a deeper understanding of why they should make reading a daily habit and leave inspired to cuddle up with their young one and a book.

Many of the families that Reach Out and Read serves do not have any books at home. At the end of the program, every Reach Out and Read child has a home library of books—each given with the advice to families that they are their child’s first and most important teacher. As they read and spend time together, families form lasting connections and children learn new skills that serve them well throughout their lives.
