Royal Caribbean strongly recommends getting a passport. However, United States citizens on cruises that begin and end at the same port in the United States can use an original government-issued picture ID (i.e. driver's license) AND an original government-issued birth certificate or original Naturalization Certificate.
We strongly recommend you stay updated on the COVID-19 requirements to sail by visiting Royal Caribbean’s Healthy Sail Center. No one can predict what will be required next year, but the Healthy Sail Center will always have the most up-to-date requirements.
Royal Caribbean’s Healthy Sail Center explains ways Royal Caribbean is keeping their ships sparkling clean and healthy, from sanitized surfaces to air filtration to their newly upgraded medical center.
More specific instructions will be communicated closer to the cruise date; however, if you are flying, your latest arrival time into the Miami airport on Feb. 6 should be 1:00 p.m., and your latest arrival time into the Ft. Lauderdale airport should be 12:00 p.m. We strongly recommend arriving a day early in case you have any travel delays.
Although the cruise will return to Miami at approximately 6:00 a.m., there are various protocols, including customs clearance, that the ship must pass to be cleared to allow passengers to disembark. Your earliest departure flight from the Miami airport on Feb. 10 should be 11:00 a.m., and your earliest departure flight from the Ft. Lauderdale airport should be 12:00 p.m.
The Miami airport would be the most convenient since it is close to the cruise port (approx. 8.4 miles). However, you may find the flight times into Ft. Lauderdale better suited from your home airport. It’s 26 miles from Ft. Lauderdale airport to the pier in Miami, and the estimated transfer time is about 35 minutes. However, the traffic in both the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami areas can be extremely heavy; leave at least 45 to 60 minutes for travel time. Additionally, the traffic coming into the pier to make drop-offs will be heavy. We strongly recommend arriving a day early in case you have any travel delays.
If you are driving, be sure to consult Royal Caribbean's FAQs for directions as well as parking and terminal information.
