Melinda Davis
Melinda Davis is a neuroanesthetist at the University of Calgary, Canada. She completed her anaestheia training in Newcastle and moved to Canada to pursue sub-specialty training in neuro-anaesthesia. Melinda has an interest in anesthesia for interventional neuroradiology, and specifically endovascular therapy for acute ischemic stroke. The majority of her clinical practice involves endoscopic skull base surgery and intraoperative MRI. Upcoming research will focus on measurement of cerebral blood flow during awake craniotomy. Melinda is also the director of the pre-admision clinic of the Foothills Medical Centre. She is a Master Teacher (!) with the faculty of medicine, a member of the Curriculum Design and Implementation Committee for the Faculty of Medicine, and instructor for procedural skills teaching for the University of Calgary Office of Faculty development. Despite a strong dislike of minus 30 winter temperatures she embraces her life at the base of the Canadian Rockies...but looks for any excuse to visit home.

Kerry is a Specialist Anaesthetist, at Auckland City Hospital. He has an interest in Liver transplant and trauma anaesthesia, which has led to an interest in coagulopathy and massive haemorrhage management. He chairs The Auckland Blood transfusion Committee. Who have introduced a systematic change in blood product use throughout their hospitals, with guidelines on Massive Transfusion, TEG and coagulation management, red cell use and quality systems to reduce error and waste. They are currently looking at the effectiveness of systems and education to change blood prescribing practices and reducing inappropriate transfusion.
Kerry is on the NZ National Council of ANZCA, the CPD Committee of ANZCA, and Chair of the NZ Anaesthesia Education Committee.He is also a Final Examiner for ANZCA.
Kerry is married with four boys and loves travel, wine and skiing.
Ross Kerridge
Ross Kerridge is Director of the Perioperative Service at the John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, where his clinical work includes general and emergency operating theatres, the preoperative clinics, and complex perioperative consults on the wards. He is Conjoint Associate Professor of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Newcastle.
As an anaesthetist, Dr Kerridge has had a long-standing interest in the clinical, organisational and system issues of perioperative patient management. Dr Kerridge led the establishment of the "Perioperative System" model of care for elective surgery which is now the generally accepted model of elective surgical patient care in Australia, and has been adapted internationally. He has spoken at numerous conferences and meetings, and visited and advised over eighty hospitals and health services in ten countries.
Current interests include ongoing improvements in pre-operative and postoperative care systems; Postgraduate training in Clinical Leadership with a ‘generalist’ perspective; developing an interactive web-based system for enhanced ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) programs.
Dr Kerridge has had wide involvement in a variety of other projects involving reorganisation and re-engineering of health service delivery, including establishment of the first 'Medical Emergency Team' (1990), and the Australian Resource Centre for Healthcare Innovation, (www.archi.net.au) in 1998.
Earlier in his specialist career, he worked part-time as a Doctor with the Sydney-based ‘Careflight’ Helicopter Medical Retrieval Service. After an accident during this work he sustained multiple life-threatening injuries, and spent six months in hospital. This experience gave him unique insights into the patient’s experience of hospitals and health services, and increased his commitment to improving the health system.
He is a passionate citizen of Newcastle, involved in a number of community organisations. He enjoys history of all types, biographies, and colourful ties.

Peter Saul

Peter Saul is a senior intensive care specialist in the adult and paediatric ICU at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, and Director of Intensive Care at Newcastle Private Hospital. He is also the Area Director for Organ and Tissue Donation.
Peter is on the HNE Area Clinical Ethics Committee, and is the Director of the Clinical Unit in Ethics and Health Law. He is on the Clinical Ethics Advisory Panel for NSW Health, and is Chair of the steering committees for end of life decision-making and advance care planning at NSW Ministry of Health.
