ABSTRACT SUBMISSION TIMELINE
Submission Closes:  9 October 2024 at 23:59 Mountain Time (extended from 30 September)
    Acceptance Notifications:  October 2024

ASSW 2025 will include the summative event of the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) process, which is a multi-year effort that began in 2022 to engage the international community on critical topics and priorities for Arctic research in the next 10 years that cut across disciplines and knowledge systems, and that require new and innovative thinking and collaboration.

ASSW 2025 organizers are now accepting abstracts for the ICARP IV Summit, which will take place during 25–28 March 2025, immediately following the ASSW 2025 business and community meetings (20–24 March 2025).

60 sessions are available for abstract submissions. Additional conference sessions, which will host panels, town halls, and other engaging formats, have also been accepted into the program. Collectively, the sessions within the ICARP IV Summit will address the following areas:

  • Research topics that align with one or more of the seven existing ICARP IV Research Priority Team Areas.
  •  Research topics that are critical for Arctic research planning to consider, but are broader than or not included within any of the seven existing ICARP IV Research Priority Team Areas. For example, topics here may include emerging Arctic threats, new areas in social science, Arctic economies, etc.
  • Matters that are important to Arctic research planning and implementation. For example, topics here may include science policy, research evaluation, research ethics, scenario planning, international funding and coordination mechanisms, etc.

Please select the most appropriate session for your abstract from amongst the 60 sessions that are inviting abstracts. Sessions that receive an adequate number of abstracts will appear in the final program. Sessions that do not receive enough abstracts will be either merged, adjusted in format, or removed from the program.

Please note that there is no charge to submit an abstract. Additional abstracts may be submitted after completing the first. Simply submit the first abstract, then navigate back to the 'Submissions' page and click 'Add New'. Individuals are not limited in the number of abstracts they can submit.

Do you need a visa invitation letter? Those submitting abstracts should consider whether they need to request a visa invitation letter for their travel to ASSW 2025. If so, please do so as soon as possible. Visa invitation letters may be requested now (prior to acceptance of an abstract or ASSW registration).
