SATELLITE DESCRIPTION:
This pre-conference workshop will share the latest operational support models for global health work abroad, including working partnerships between faculty and administrators at Johns Hopkins University (HR and finance), University of Minnesota and Makerere University (research support and academic collaborations), University of Washington (entity registration in India and export controls), and University of Maryland-Baltimore (subrecipient monitoring). The workshop will focus on practical steps to enable and expand overseas research cost-effectively and responsibly - including coordinating structures, business and academic processes, funding mechanisms and grant recoverability.
Both faculty and administrators are welcomed to the four-hour workshop. Participants will learn about operational and regulatory challenges and requirements, different models for global support and information sharing, and howto apply these models to improve collaboration and program success. Panels will be followed by Q&A to allow for discussion of how participants can follow these examples on their home campuses.
