Workshop on Wheels Tours

Attendees will visit farms and businesses across San Diego County to explore agritourism operations, including best practices, opportunities, and industry challenges. All tours will depart from and return to the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Transportation to each farm will be provided by bus, attendees should park at the Flower Fields parking lots.

The Wallace Ranch Dragon Fruit Farm is 100% certified organic dragon fruit farm that sits on over 5 acres of land. Located in San Diego, they have been growing dragon fruits since 2013. With over 5,000 plants on the ground and over 20 varieties, they are your reliable source for dragon fruit cuttings that you want to plant at home.

Beach House Winery

Located in Oceanside, Beach House Winery is the first vineyard and winery in the agricultural community of South Morro Hills. Founded by George and Kim Murray in 2010, their passion for winemaking began in 1998 as a hobby shared with friends at their beach house—just blocks from Oceanside’s beautiful coastline. Today, their hilltop vineyard, “Vigna al Mare” (Vineyard at the Sea), offers stunning panoramic views of North County and the Pacific Ocean, along with award-winning wines made from both estate and sourced grapes. Carlsbad State Street Farmers Market

The Carlsbad State Street Farmers Market is a vibrant open-air market located in downtown Carlsbad Village, California. It operates every Wednesday, offering a variety of fresh, locally sourced products. Carlsbad Village is the heart and soul of Carlsbad, California, just 40 minutes north of San Diego. San Pasqual Valley Soils developed as an on-site compost producer for the family-owned Frank Konyn Dairy, the last remaining diary in San Diego County, creating an environmentally and economically beneficial enterprise. Nestled in the scenic San Pasqual Valley Agricultural Preserve, this unique facility produces premium compost, soil amendments, and mulches trusted by many of San Diego County’s organic farmers. At this stop, participants will learn about San Pasqual Valley Soils unique partnerships, income diversification strategies, and educational offerings.

Hatfield Creek Vineyard & Winery

Hatfield Creek Vineyards & Winery, nestled in the scenic Ramona Valley, offers a charming and inviting escape for wine lovers. This family-owned boutique winery is known for its handcrafted, estate-grown wines and warm hospitality. For a one-of-a-kind farm experience, visit Kevin and Betsy’s organic dragon fruit farm in Ramona, where passion meets curiosity in a stunning microclimate perfect for this vibrant crop. Originally from Australia, the couple brought their farming know-how to San Diego County in 2000 and have spent nearly a decade growing dragon fruit organically. A visit to their farm is more than just a chance to taste this exotic, nutrient-rich fruit—you’ll get to see how it’s grown, learn about its stunning flowers and fascinating propagation process, and immerse yourself in the sights, smells, and flavors of the land. Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® is a vibrant 55-acre floral attraction in Carlsbad, California, renowned for its annual display of Giant Tecolote® Ranunculus flowers. Originating in the 1920s with horticulturist Luther Gage, the cultivation was expanded by Frank Frazee and his son Edwin, who developed the diverse, full-petaled blooms seen today. In 1965, the operation moved to its current location on land owned by the Ecke family. Later, Paul Ecke Jr. collaborated with Mellano & Company to maintain the fields and introduce agritourism, ensuring the site's sustainability. Today, The Flower Fields blend agricultural heritage with visitor experiences, offering seasonal attractions and events that celebrate the region's floral legacy.
