St. Andrews is a picturesque coastal town located to the North-East of Edinburgh. It’s considered to be the “home of golf” but is also a historic and scenic location in its own right with boutique shops, mediaeval streets, cathedral and castle ruins (As an additional aside, Prince William also attended the historic University of St. Andrews and met Kate Middleton here).
During the journey from Edinburgh the guide will elaborate on the history and significance of the town, and there will be time for exploration at leisure. After visiting St. Andrews, the next stop will be the Lindores Abbey Distillery (approximately 45 minutes away). Only the ruins of the original abbey, which dates back to the 12th century, still exist, but after a 500 year gap, whisky-production has recently been re-born in a new distillery. During the visit, the gain insight into the whisky-making processes and of course sample their single malt whisky.

Culross is arguably one of Scotland’s most picturesque villages and a location which has featured significantly in the hugely-popular Outlander series. It was a bustling 17th century port and much of its history and style is preserved still.
Scone Palace boasts an incredible history and is of great significance to Scotland as the crowning place of Scottish monarchs (including MacBeth, Robert the Bruce and Charles II) and the original home to the Stone of Scone. Today it is still the family home of the Earl of Mansfield. Lunch will be served in the style of a traditional “high tea”.

More or less between Edinburgh and St. Andrews, Falkland is a charming Scottish town which some may recognise from early episodes of the Outlander series. The town is primarily known for its 16th century Royal Palace, which was built as a country retreat and reputedly a favourite of Mary Queen of Scots. The tour will incorporate a visit to the Palace.
