An introduction to Board Assurance Frameworks (BAFs)

OVERVIEW

How to create BAFs and use them beneficially

Organisations work in a fast-moving, competitive and demanding external environment. Senior leaders and directors of organisations have a lot of factors to consider, ranging from market factors, customer and quality factors, as well as a large number of legislative and compliance issues. How do senior leaders know that their organisation has good control over such wide ranging and detailed issues?

The BAF provides the Board, Directors, Auditors and external stakeholders with the formal methodology for identifying and mapping the main sources of evidence that the organisation is on top of things (assurance) and coordinating them to best effect.

This makes it a valuable core skill area for anyone working on or with a board, in senior leadership roles, or aspiring to a senior leadership role in any type of business.
