The Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s PH Professional Network (PHPN) Symposium brings together hundreds of allied health care professionals every two years to network and earn continuing education credits. This year’s Symposium was online because of the pandemic. The event, “PHiguring Out the Puzzle: Pieces to Innovative, Patient-Centered Care,” offers online education sessions about advancements in PH research and care. Her work focuses on improving the patient and provider experience through connection and communication. Her narrative nonfiction memoir, “In Shock: My Journey from Death to Recovery and the Redemptive Power of Hope” is a critically acclaimed national bestseller. Her book is featured in medical school curricula in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Dr. Awdish has received the Schwartz Center’s National Compassionate Caregiver of the Year Award, Physician of the Year by Press Ganey, and a Sidney Prize for her writing from the New York Times.
