Mike Cox Webinar Chair Association of Employement and Learning Providers After 13 years in retail purchasing and supply, Mike became an assessor for apprenticeships with TBG Learning in 1999. He soon moved onto various development roles with learndirect, RNID and then LSN where he headed up the bidding and development team, helping design support programmes and research in areas including Train to Gain, Citizenship, Diplomas, Key Skills, Functional Skills and Foundation Learning. He joined AELP in February 2013. Mike is married with 2 children and lives in rural Kent. | |
Ruth Quilter Educational Consultant and Trainer Ruth Quilter Associates Limited Ruth established a successful and well regarded consultancy and training company specialising in the Learning and Skills sector in 2000, having previously been a teacher and manager in Further Education Colleges and schools. She is a highly experienced trainer and facilitator and has worked nationally on key initiatives with teachers, such as improving teaching and learning, developing and embedding literacy, language and numeracy practice, teaching learners with Learning Disabilities, Foundation Learning and Functional Skills. Ruth has also worked strategically with managers in organisations, focussing on aspects of quality improvement, preparing for Inspection and Equality and Diversity practice. Ruth has always worked with colleagues on professional development and produced the Professional Standards for teachers, tutors and trainers working with disabled learners and various associated guidance and support documents. Ruth is a specialist in disability and safeguarding practice and first became involved in the area of Safeguarding working with the National Association of Adult and Continuing Education ( NIACE ) developing and delivering training when the Safeguarding and Vulnerable Act 2006, became law. Since 2010 she worked with the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) as a member of the Safeguarding team, writing and delivering a range of training courses to diverse client groups. Ruth is currently working again with NIACE as a lead consultant and trainer in response to the recent changes in legisation and safeguarding practice. | |
