RTDNA National Meeting 2015

Welcome

Welcome to the RTDNA 2015 National Conference.

If  you listen to the conversations among reporters, editors, and managers, in the newsrooms across the country it becomes clear what is top of mind:  how do we navigate this brave new digital world, with its many challenges and opportunities.     We organized this year’s conference with the aim of providing journalists the tools they need to deal with this ever evolving digital disruption.  The landscape is changing dramatically;  old advertising models are being blown-up as we all try to navigate this new online, on-demand, streaming world. The era of a reporter working all day to file a single two minute news item for the evening newscast is gone;  now the deadline is all the time.  So how do we manage that?  How do we ensure our storytelling goes deeper than 140 characters? In short, how do we maintain journalistic excellence in the digital age? All of the sessions at this year's conference come back to this core theme.

When the dust settles, those of us that have been able to evolve and harness the new digital paradigm will still be standing strong. It is our hope that the 2015 RTDNA Conference will give journalists the tools to survive and thrive in this new reality.

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone  who helped  organize this year's conference, and I would like to thank all the speakers who traveled from near and far to be here.   It is so rare in this day and age that we take the time to step back and examine how we conduct the craft of journalism. I hope you enjoy these next few days and that you will return to your newsrooms energized and empowered to face the digital disruption head-on!
