Dear Colleagues,
The Consortium of Universities for Global Health’s (CUGH) 2016 Annual Conference will occur at an important transition point for global health. As the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) define new health and development priorities for the global agenda, we need to understand better the critical intersections between global health and our environment. We also need to find creative ways to sustain and extend the impressive gains that have been made in global health over the last two decades.
In this spirit, the 2016 CUGH conference – “Bridging to a Sustainable Future in Global Health” – will address the implications of the SDGs for global health research and education and explore new ideas for action and collaboration across sectors. World-class speakers will discuss topics such as planetary health, global health security, global health education, innovation in health technologies, financing needs and trends, and the links between governance and health. Breakout sessions will also explore a number of important emerging topics such as the rise of violence, the consequences of urbanization, and how risk factors for noncommunicable diseases can be mitigated.
The CUGH 2016 annual conference is designed to bring together individuals from different fields to promote transdisciplinary learning. Speakers from diverse backgrounds, disciplines and sectors have been invited to ensure a rich and dynamic discussion relevant to faculty, students, administrators, implementors, government and information officers in the health professions, law, public policy, veterinary sciences, engineering, business, technology, and other academic disciplines. CUGH’s annual conference is the preeminent global health networking, career development, and knowledge sharing event of its kind in the world.
Dynamic satellite sessions on an array of topics including; global cancer, global health security, education, workforce needs and an all-day student led program will take place on April 8. Please see this website for more information and registration.
