Oral Abstract Presentation

Thank you for your interest in submitting an oral abstract for presentation at the INS 2013 Annual Convention and Industrial Exhibition. Oral abstract presentations deliver information about evidence-based research findings or clinical innovations related to the field of infusion nursing.

Nine oral abstracts will be selected for presentation on Tuesday May 21, 2013. Three presentations will be given each hour; each presentation no longer than 20 minutes.

Oral abstracts undergo blind review by members of the INS National Council on Education, and are chosen based on the following criteria:
  • Originality: is the concept presented new information or a new approach to an old issue?
  • Method: is the research design valid? Are statistical techniques appropriate?
  • Presentation: do the figures and graphs used impact the viewers’ understanding of the information? Is the presentation easy to view? Is the author knowledgeable about the information in the presentation?
  • Significance: does the conclusion have an impact on the infusion nursing specialty?

Oral abstract presentations provide attendees with continuing education credits, and therefore must follow the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) regulations. Presentations must be free of commercial bias, and can not be funded, supported, or delivered by industry. Presenters must submit a Conflict of Interest statement to be considered for selection.

One overall winner will be chosen. The winner will be announced and a prize awarded during the Celebration of Excellence on Tuesday evening.

The deadline for Oral Abstract Presentation submission is
 January 15, 2013.

Oral abstract presenters must be registered to attend the Annual Convention and Industrial Exhibition on Tuesday May 21, 2013. All expenses related to the oral abstract presentation and meeting attendance (including but not limited to travel, transportation, lodging and meals) are the responsibility of the presenter. Only one presenter is allowed for each oral abstract presentation. The content of the oral abstract may also be submitted for consideration as a poster presentation; a separate poster application must be completed prior to the January 15, 2013 poster submission deadline.

Oral abstracts that are accepted for presentation will be notified by email beginning February 8, 2013.
