Judging criteria

Please read the following criteria carefully as it will help you understand what the judges are looking for and what you need to include in your entry.

Captive Manager of the Year
Independent Captive Manager of the Year

Applicants need to demonstrate how captive management services have consistently outperformed their peers, and catered successfully for their clients. Judges will be looking for applicants with a demonstrable track-record of providing more than just ‘mechanical’ captive management, and that have facilitated companies’ captive expansion and risk management in general.

Key criteria include:

  • Consultative services
  • Diversity of produce offering/solutions
  • Innovation
  • Scale


Innovation in captive management
Innovation in investment management
Innovation in fronting

Judges will be seeking to reward a company whose unusual solutions have contributed to the beneficial growth and change of captives.

Key criteria include:

  • Benefit to clients
  • Uniqueness of solution/creativity
  • Value and availability of solution
  • Contribution of solution to wider risk management practices

    
Best customer service in captive management
Best customer service in investment management
Best customer service in fronting

Entries will need to demonstrate how service has improved the business functionality of clients.

Key criteria include:

  • Knowledge and expertise of team
  • Level and value of service
  • Enduring Accessibility


Onshore law firm of the year
Off-shore law firm of the year
Tax advisory firm of the year

Judges will be seeking to reward the company within each category that has demonstrated exceptional expertise within each service. Efficiency, accessibility, knowledge and availability will set the winner apart from the rest.

Captive reinsurer of the year

Judges will be seeking to reward strong capitalisation, range of products, innovation and ancillary services in challenging market conditions.

Key criteria include:

  • Strong Management
  • Selective underwriting
  • Sound business model

    
Reinsurance broker of the year

Judges will be seeking to reward the broker which has shown the best business strategy and maintained the strongest client base in the last year.

Key criteria include:

  • Competitiveness of pricing
  • Accessibility
  • Transparency
  • Scale

      
Collateral service provider of the year

Judges will be seeking to reward a company that provides a range of different collateral products, and flexibility to client circumstances.

Actuarial firm of the year
Claims management firm of the year

Judges will be seeking to reward a company based on their value, efficiency, innovation and accessibility.

Technology firm of the year

Judges will be seeking to reward a company that provides technology that demonstrably improves the functionality of captives.

Key criteria include:

  • Range of products
  • Uniqueness of products
  • Cost and usability
  • Contribution to wider corporate risk management practices


Lifetime achievement

Judges will seek to award an individual who has made a significant and protracted contribution to the captive industry.

Key criteria include:

·         Longevity

·         Range of contribution (across different jurisdictions and sectors)

·         Innovation

·         Legacy/ influence on others

 

Newcomer (individual) of the year

Applies to an industry figure who has worked in the captive industry for less than 2 years. Applicants will have to explain how they have made a considerable impact to their workplace in that time, citing specific examples. Preference will be given to examples that cite the benefit(s) to clients.

US onshore captive domicile of the year
Offshore captive domicile of the year

Judges will be seeking evidence of a domicile that has helped it client base and service providers whilst upholding international standards.

Key criteria include:

  • Accessibility of regulatory staff
  • Flexibility and prudence of regulation
  • Growth

Regulatory initiative of the year

Applicants need to explain the unusual/ unique qualities of the initiative and how it has helped the wider industry. Changes to how regulation is processed as well as actual regulatory changes will also be considered.

RRG of the year
Group/association captive of the year

Judges will seek evidence that the entity has provided extensive services to a particular sector. Applicants should highlight how their entity has provided coverage that would otherwise be hard to acquire, and how it has demonstrated value additional to the commercial market.

Key criteria include:

  • Competitiveness of coverage and services
  • Care of members
  • Range of ancillary services
