(In-person only event)
Date: May 5, 2026
Event Location: Hyatt Regency Dallas, Dallas, Texas, United States
Organized by: ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices
About the Event
The Workshop on Hip Impingement Testing will be held May 5, 2026. The workshop is organized by ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices, and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, Dallas, Texas, United States in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committee. The language of the workshop will be English.
Objective and Scope
The hip impingement standard (F2582) provides a testing method that addresses multiple failure modes. However, its coordinate system presents challenges for consistent execution across different testing equipment. In response, several alternative approaches have been proposed. This workshop aims to provide background on the development of the current standard, followed by presentations on these proposed methods. With all stakeholders informed and engaged, the ultimate goal is to assess whether the standard should be revised—and if so, determine the most appropriate path forward.
Topics will include:
- History of F2582, the current method, and EndoLab data
- Several proposals and data of various methods
- Biomechanics of hip impingement
- Clinical outcomes
Technical Program
A technical program (presentation times, titles, and presenters’ names) will be posted on the ASTM website by April 2026.
