You can alter the items through sewing, cutting and reshaping, embellishing, dyeing, embroidery, applique, painting, beading, etc. Examples: combining sleeves from one garment to the bodice of another item or using fabric from an old tablecloth to create a skirt.

Additional colors may be used to enhance the outfit. The outfit must feature at least one handmade garment made by the member.

National Contest Qualifier

The 4-H Family and Consumer Science National Championship & Conference (https://texas4-h.tamu.edu/events/fcs/) is where the senior winners in the Traditional, Consumer Science Purchased, and Uniquely Upcycled categories compete in the national Fashion Revue competition. It is the January following our State Fashion Revue. We can send a maximum of six youth - two in the constructed division, two in the purchased division, and two in the upcycle your style division. The garment/outfit modeled at the state level must be the same outfit/garment modeled at 4-H FCS National Championship. Fashion Revue is a combination of an oral presentation, modeling of the garment, and response to questions from the judges. An individual may enter a National 4-H competitive event in a specific program area only once - one time in Fashion Revue Constructed, one time in Fashion Revue Purchased and one time in Upcycle Your Style.
