WELCOME!

This year's symposium is focusing on how to provide culturally responsive and the most current diabetes care to our diverse patient membership in KP Southern California. Experts in diabetes care from within and external to Kaiser Permanente will engage in discussions on the following themes:

  • Understand the impact of ethnic diversity has on the incidence and outcomes of diabetes, highlighting the pathophysiology and cultural differences that directly influence care delivery and complication development with a focus on diabetes kidney disease
  • Identify the social determinants of health (SDOH) that affect diabetes care and outcomes; and how to leverage community resources to support the delivery of equitable care to the diverse diabetes populations
  • Discuss real life strategies within KP that address SDOH, cultural diversity and the psychological burden of living with diabetes to meet the challenges of caring for a diverse diabetes population
  • Review the most current glycemic therapies for type 2 diabetes with an emphasis on a holistic and patient centered pharmacological approach and utilizing continuous glucose monitoring technologies effectively
