Businesses must meet the following criteria, based on the category:

 

 

 

HUBZone
Business of the Year
 
Recognizing the catalysts for positive change, this award celebrates HUBZone small businesses that inspire hope, create jobs, and nurture communities in our nation's historically distressed areas.
 

Business must be a current certified HUBZone company

Business must be in good standing with the Small Business Administration

Must maintain an active registration on SAM.gov

Business must be currently doing business with the Federal Government with at least one or more award received in 2023

Business must show demonstrated history of success in business in 2023

Must be in satisfactory financial condition

 

8(a)
Business of the Year
 
Honoring a remarkable small business that has thrived in the 8(a) program, showcasing their capacity for excellence, innovation, and growth in government contracting.
 

Business must be a current certified 8(a) company or been a certified company for the duration of 2023

 

Business must be in good standing with the Small Business Administration

 

Must maintain an active registration on SAM.gov

 

Business must be currently doing business with the Federal Government with at least one or more award received in 2023

 

Business must show demonstrated history of success in business in 2023

 

Must be in satisfactory financial condition

 

Native/Tribal
Business of the Year
 
Acknowledging a Tribal enterprise that embodies the rich heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of indigenous communities, contributing to economic development and sustainability in their regions.

 

Business must be a registered Alaska Native Corporation, Native Tribal or Native Hawaiian Organization

 

Business must be in good standing with the Small Business Administration

 

Must maintain an active registration on SAM.gov

 

Business must be currently doing business with the Federal Government with at least one or more award received in 2023

 

Business must show demonstrated history of success in business in 2023

 

Must be in satisfactory financial condition

 

Women Owned Small Business of the Year
 

Honors a Women-Owned small business for empowering female entrepreneurs and contributing to economic and community progress.

 

Business must be a current certified Women Owned Small Business

 

Business must be in good standing with the Small Business Administration

 

Must maintain an active registration on SAM.gov 

 

Business must be currently doing business with the Federal Government with at least one or more award received in 2023

 

Business must show demonstrated history of success in business in 2023

 

Must be in satisfactory financial condition

 

Veteran Owned Small
Business of the Year
 

Honors Veteran-Owned Small Business for its exemplary performance in government contracting, job creation, and community support.

Business must be a current certified Veteran Owned Small Business

Business must be in good standing with the Small Business Administration

 

Must maintain an active registration on SAM.gov 

 

Business must be currently doing business with the Federal Government with at least one or more award received in 2023

 

Business must show demonstrated history of success in business in 2023

 

Must be in satisfactory financial condition

 

 

 

 Workforce/Internship
Program of the Year
 

The foundation of the SBA's small business programs is rooted in facilitating job creation. In line with this mission, we are introducing a new award category to recognize and celebrate innovative and impactful workforce development programs. 

Business must showcase a successful workforce/internship or apprenticeship program that was conducted in 2023

Business must showcase the program’s impact on the local community

 

Business must be in good standing with the Small Business Administration and have an active registration on SAM.gov

 

Business must be currently doing business with the Federal Government with at least one or more award received in 2023

 

Must be in satisfactory financial condition

 

 

 

Emerging Small
Business of the Year
 

Recognizing promising newcomers in government contracting, this award celebrates businesses with two years or less of experience that have demonstrated exceptional growth, innovation, and positive impact within this competitive landscape. Their rapid ascent and contributions to the small business community make them stand out in their field.

Business must be less than 2 years in business

Business must be considered small in primary NAICS code

Business must be in good standing with the Small Business Administration

 

Must maintain an active registration on SAM.gov

 

Business must show demonstrated history of growth of business

 

Must be in satisfactory financial condition

 

 

 

Large Prime
Company of the Year
 

Recognizing the power of partnership, this award honors large businesses that have fostered small business growth through subcontracting, teaming, mentorship, and collaboration, illuminating the path to collective success.

Company must be currently doing business with the Federal Government with at least one or more award received in 2023

Company must have satisfied their small business subcontracting goals

Company must show demonstrated history of subcontracts and support to the small business community

Company must have a demonstrated history of successful Teaming Joint Ventures, and Mentor Protégés in the small business community in 2023

 

 

 

Agency
of the Year
 

Honors those who have made remarkable contributions to enhance the economic, educational, and social well-being of the Small Business Community. 

Agency must have satisfied the Small Business Administration small businesses contracting goals in FY2023

Agency must show demonstrated history of awards and support to the small business community in FY2023

 

 

 

Small Business Resource
of the Year
 

Small businesses today employ various growth tools, from podcasts to CRM. This year, we broaden our scope to encompass technology and media outlets, as well as traditional resources like PTACs and Non-Profits. This award acknowledges those who've notably advanced the Small Business Community's economic, educational, and social growth through knowledge promotion, recruitment, training, and strategic support.

Business must be a third-party vendor or business that provides products, services, training or educational resources directly to the small business Federal Government contracting industry (separate from sale to the Federal Government)

Business must show a history of successful impact through their products or services to the small business community in 2023

 

Must be in satisfactory financial condition
