Dwight Akerman, OD, MBA, FAAO, FBCLA, FIACLE

Dr. Dwight Akerman is an internationally recognized senior healthcare leader. He serves as the Chief Medical Editor of the Review of Myopia Management. 

Dr. Akerman was the Vice President & Global Head of Professional Affairs & Business Development for Alcon before retiring from this role in 2019. He has published widely and is a frequently invited peer educator on myopia management, cornea, contact lens, and business management topics.

Dr. Akerman graduated cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry and earned an MBA from the University of Texas. He has achieved the status of Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry Cornea, Contact Lenses & Refractive Technologies Section, Fellow of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators, and Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association. He currently serves as Chair of the Illinois College of Optometry Board of Trustees. 
 

Gary Gerber, OD

Dr. Gary Gerber is the co-founder of Treehouse Eyes, the country’s first centers dedicated exclusively to providing myopia management services to children.  He is also the founder and Chief Dream Officer for The Power Practice®, a practice building and consulting company whose mission is to help doctors power their professional and personal dreams.  Dr. Gerber is also a prolific writer and speaker and an accomplished mentalist and magician who uses illusions to help illustrate his key learning points and entertain his audiences.  He has authored hundreds of articles and given more than 500 thought provoking and enlightening presentations.  He is also the host of The Power Hour, optometry’s only live talk radio show.

His team of consultant-optometrists at the Power Practice is renowned for the innovative strategies and comprehensive systems used to build their clients’ practices.  Comprised of knowledgeable authorities from all sectors of the optometric business world, these consultants specialize in taking middle-of-the-bell curve practices and making them highly profitable and efficient.

When he’s not helping his clients power their dreams, he’s powering his own as a touring musician with Joe Lynn Turner, the singer from Deep Purple and Rainbow.
 

Harbir Sian, OD

Dr. Harbir Sian is the co-owner of two optometric practices in the Vancouver area. Harbir has spent years in the clinic diving into different specialty areas of optometry, primarily dry eye and myopia management. He is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry.

Outside of the clinic, Harbir is passionate about patient and public education. This is in his online education platforms, including blogs, YouTube videos, and The 20/20 Podcast. Dr. Sian has spoken at major conferences around North America and recently gave a TEDx Talk about the power of the human visual system.
 

Sherman Tung, OD, FAAO, FIAOMC

Dr. Sherman Tung graduated from Illinois College of Optometry and is based in Vancouver at Eyelab, a unique and creative OD practice leading in the specialty fields of Myopia Management, Vision Therapy, and Dry Eyes.  His passion and dedication to myopia management led him to pursue a fellowship in the FAAO and FIAOMC. Recently, he just earned his IACMM. He was honored to be named BC Optometrist of the Year in 2019, the highest award given to an optometrist who has contributed to the advancement of optometry and demonstrated a fervent commitment to serving the community and improving the visual welfare of the public.
