Student Program - Travel Support

OpenSFS announces funding for student participation at Lustre User Group meeting

Thanks to the generous support of the San Diego Supercomputer Center, the host institution for this year’s Lustre User Group meeting, OpenSFS is pleased to announce the availability of funding to support student participation at this year’s meeting, which will be held May 2-4, 2023 on the UC San Diego Campus. This is the first in-person LUG meeting since 2019, when COVID-19 resulted in subsequent LUGs being held virtually. The return to in-person meeting represents a terrific opportunity for participants to gain exposure to the latest developments in large scale parallel file systems, and connect with leading researchers and practitioners from other universities, national labs, and the private sector.

Support is available for up to 5 graduate or postdoctoral students. Each student will receive up to $2500 to cover travel, lodging, meals, and conference registration. Students should have a strong interest and/or experience in areas such as: high-performance file systems design and implementation, high-performance computing, storage systems, and other hardware and software technologies relevant in computational science and engineering. Students from under resourced institutions, and those who would not otherwise be able to attend are especially encouraged to apply. OpenSFS institutions and its members reflect a diverse community and encourage broad participation.

Interested students must submit an application that includes a statement of interest, resume, and a letter of support from their advisor.

Applications will be accepted through 5pm PST, April 24, 2023.
