What steps do I need to take to receive the RBL Certification?

GSB offers six steps to developing responsible business leadership: Leadership Assessment, Leadership Retreat, Sustainability Workshops, Leadership Coaching, Program-specific ESG Events. These steps are outlined on the home page

Students need to complete four of these steps to receive the Responsible Business Leadership certification. Two of those four steps must be Leadership Assessment and attending one Sustainability Workshop. 

All students who complete the Responsible Business Leadership certification will receive recognition during the RBL end of year celebration and at their graduation ceremony. Students who complete all six RBL steps, will receive special recognition at these events.

How much does it cost to attend RBL events?

There is no additional cost to the students to participate in any RBL events. 

How much time do I have to complete the RBL certification?

RBL certification is to be completed within one academic year. 

How can I track my RBL certification progress?

You can track your RBL certification progress on the GSB Event App. Open the app, select Responsible Business Leadership and then "Certification Status." 

How many Sustainability Events do I need to attend to receive the RBL certification?

We encourage you to attend as many as your schedule will permit in order to enhance your sustainability literacy. You need to attend one sustainability event to obtain RBL certification. 

How do I report my attendance at a Sustainability Event? 

You will need to self-report your attendance at Sustainability Events. Fill out this form. In it, you will need to provide the name of the event, the date, and a brief paragraph (3 to 5 sentences) describing how this event increased your sustainability literacy and your responsible leadership skills. 

What is a Sustainability Event? 

A sustainability event would be any lecture, workshop, or conference on sustainability and would help our students increase their sustainability literacy. We'll identify events that qualify throughout the academic year and will notify students. 

How many Program Specific ESG events do I need to attend to receive the RBL certification? 

We encourage you to attend as many program-specific ESG events as your schedule will permit. Attending one program-specific ESG event will satisfy this step towards obtaining RBL certification.

Does participation in RBL impact my degree or graduation status?

No. RBL participation and certification do not have any impact on you obtaining your degree or your graduation status.  

How do I register to participate in RBL? 

All MS students are invited to participate in RBL. You do not need to register to be part of the RBL program. All you have to do is register for and attend RBL events. The student enrichment team will track your participation and progression. 

Who can participate in the RBL certification? 

All MS students are invited to participate in the RBL program and can attend any and all RBL events.  

As a MS student, do I have to participate in RBL? 

No. MS students are encouraged to participate in any or all of the RBL events and to work towards receiving certification, but it is not required.   

How do I attend a virtual (Zoom) event? 

All virtual events are hosted through our virtual lobby, which you can assess here.

When is the deadline to finish the RBL steps? 

Students have until April 1st to complete the RBL steps if they are graduating in May. Summer and Winter graduates have up until the day of graduation to complete the steps. 

When do I receive my RBL certificate? 

Students who complete the required steps to receive RBL certification will receive their certificate at the RBL Celebration that is held the end of the Spring Semester.
