This is a hands-on workshop with the opportunity to use some innovative difficult airway equipment on models and simulators. The workshop is facilitated by an expert anaesthetic team from Evelina London Children’s Hospital and supported by the technical knowledge of the industry trainers.

Anxiety Management:

led by Dr Phil Cunnington and  Mike Stylianou, London

Managing Paediatric Anxiety With Simulation
 
 This workshop will provide delegates with the unique opportunity to explore patient anxiety through simulation scenarios using hi-fidelity simulation equipment and child actors. Based on the COMPASS course run at Great Ormond Street Hospital the delegates will be provided with relevant, practical strategies that can be implemented to  support patients who experience procedural anxiety. We welcome all clinical staff who work within the perioperative environment.
 
Candidates can expect to;
 
•Gain the knowledge and skills required to recognise and effectively respond to patient anxiety
•Rehearse practical strategies to support the anxious patient; navigating the associated challenges alongside fellow members of the multidisciplinary team
•Enhance practice in communication techniques to support management of the anxious patient  
•Recognise the potential impact of poorly managed procedural anxiety
