COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Participants should plan on being patient and flexible due to the quickly evolving nature of COVID-19 safety protocols. Should it become necessary, additional mitigation strategies may be adopted to promote the safety of all Conference participants. The Committee of 100 Conference & Gala COVID-19 safety protocols and this FAQ document will be updated as needed.

Will there be any onsite testing?
We will have a limited supply of at home COVID-19 test kits onsite at the Committee of 100 Conference & Gala. If you are experiencing symptoms or have been in close contact recently with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and need a test, please notify a Committee of 100 staff member or volunteer.

Will participants be required to use masks while indoors during the Committee of 100 Conference & Gala?
The Committee of 100 will observe the most current CDC, Washington D.C., and venue guidelines regarding the use of masks indoors at the time the Conference takes place. The District of Columbia officially lifted its indoor mask mandates on February 15. Under this existing policy, participants will be able to choose for themselves if they wish to use a face mask while indoors. Currently, masks are required in public transportation and health care settings, and some of the venues where our evening events will be held may still choose to require masks/vaccination status. Please visit https://coronavirus.dc.gov/ for the latest updates from the D.C. government on its guidelines and recommendations.

Will the Committee of 100 provide disposable face masks for participants who wish to use one?
A limited supply of disposable face masks will be available at the registration counter for participants who wish to use one.

What measures will be taken during the Conference and Gala to mitigate risks around COVID-19?
Signage will remind participants to practice social distancing where possible and about good hygiene practices including the use of hand sanitizer and hand washing. We strongly recommend that all participants wear masks and practice social distancing whenever possible. Additionally, hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the Conference meeting area. The Marriot Marquis Washington D.C. maintains stringent cleanliness and prevention standards and operational protocols. The hotel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection, particularly in areas with high traffic including restrooms, elevators, and escalators as well as provided more hand sanitizing stations. Further, hotel staff members will wear PPE (e.g., face coverings, gloves, etc.) based on the activities they are performing and based on direction by the local authorities. Currently, the hotel is offering housekeeping services on the sixth day of a guest’s stay. Guests who need anything before then (e.g., trash being taken out, extra towels, toiletries, etc.) or would like to receive daily housekeeping can request that service. Please visit the hotel website for updated information regarding the safety protocols that are being implemented at the hotel.
