This update will focus on the latest accounting and financial reporting developments from the FASB, the SEC, and other standard setters. Among other items, it will cover implementation considerations around the new lease accounting standard, recently issued and soon-to-be-effective accounting standards, and ongoing standard-setting efforts of the FASB.

Accounting Advisory: Accounting Hot Topics Case Studies

This session will delve into common accounting and financial reporting challenges that we have observed in practice. It will involve looking at the practical application and real-live examples of complex accounting topics. The topics covered will include, but not be limited to, revenue recognition principal vs agent analysis, modifications related to LIBOR transition that are in and out of the scope of the reference rate relief, and common business combination complexities.

Income Tax Developments and Planning Strategies

This session will provide attendees with an overview of proposed federal income tax legislation, including a potential tax rate increase and administrative developments and will be presented in terms that the non-tax-professional can understand. Topics to be discussed include a summary of current legislative tax proposals and the likelihood of their enactment, an overview of recent administrative tax pronouncements issued by Treasury and suggestions for tax planning strategies aimed at maximizing the benefit (or minimizing the cost) of these changes.

Economic Update  (In-person events only)

This session will examine the pace of our economic recovery and what it means going forward for overall growth, interest rates and monetary policy. It will cover macro-economic trends in consumer spending and corporate investment, in addition to new Federal Reserve policy initiatives and the potential economic effects of these changes. It will also address the changing global and political environment.
