FAQs

 Accessing the System:

Please register for the event here: https://ams.combustioninstitute.org/

When you enter the web site (https://na.eventscloud.com/website/24498/), you will be asked for credentials (username,   reference number). The username will be the email address you registered with, but the password will be sent to you in an   email from the web site the Friday before the event.

On the Full Schedule page, you will find each session by day, however you can filter the information using the options in the   black banner at the top of the page (located on the right hand side). There are two drop downs, as well as an option to filter   more manually.

If you click on a session, you will find the abstract and a link to the paper. On the day of the session, you will also find a link to   the live session room. Click the link to enter the room and it will take you into the current session that is being held that day.

You may ask questions during the presentations in the chat; we ask that you reserve using your microphone for the   presentation’s Q&A at the end of the presentation. The Host of the room and the Chairperson of the session will be monitoring   the chat to collect the questions as well. Please mute your microphone upon entering the room and only use your microphone   during the Q&A.

Speakers - on the day of:

You will access your session by clicking the link found in the session details on the Full Schedule page. You must register and sign   in before you will be able to see the Full Schedule page.

The links are open and live per room for the entire day so unless you are the first speaker of the day, you will be entering a room   with a presentation currently in session. The room Host and Chair will be looking out for you, but feel free to send them a   private chat to alert them that you have arrived to present.

At the time of your presentation, the Chairperson will introduce you and you may then share your screen and unmute yourself   to present.

Chairpersons - on the day of:

You will access your session by clicking the link found in the session details on the Full Schedule page. You must register and sign   in before you will be able to see the Full Schedule page.

The links are open and live per room for the entire day so unless you are the first session chair of the day, you will be entering a   room with a presentation currently in session. The room Host will be looking out for you, but feel free to send them a private   chat to alert them that you have arrived to Chair the room or replace the current chair at the correct time.

You should not need to transfer controls of the room – screen share will be open to all upon entering the room, but you will   need to keep a particular eye on the time to keep to the schedule. The Host will rely on you to direct the room according to the   schedule, but will assist you however you need at your request. The Host will also monitor attendees’ microphone use, and     attempt to curtail anyone from speaking except for you and the presenter unless during the Q&A.

You will also need to keep an eye on the chat; the intent is that questions will be posted in the chat during the presentation.   Then, they can be asked by you during the Q&A to facilitate discussion and ease any “talking over” one another. The Host will   also help to alert you of the questions in the chat.
