Ofsted nominee training for those managers new to the role on inspection

OVERVIEW

Find out everything you need to know about being a nominee during an Ofsted inspection based on the Education Inspection Framework (EIF)

This webinar builds on the one delivered by Richard Pemble, Ofsted HMI and Simon Ashworth of the AELP in June last year - an overview of the role of the nominee during an Ofsted inspection and the key behaviours required of anyone carrying it out. This webinar will tell you how the role of the nominee has changed prior to, and during, inspection since the introduction of the new Education Inspection Framework (EIF), and what parts of the role have stayed the same from the previous framework.

We will consider ‘deep dives’, the main way in which inspectors now gather evidence about the quality of our provision and how you can best prepare for them. We will then look in detail at the role and responsibilities of the nominee and what sort of person you need to be. And consider what, if any, changes there might be to the role post Covid-19.

Finally, we will examine what you can realistically do prior to inspection, what happens when you get the call from Ofsted and what your role is from that point onwards through, and into, the actual inspection itself.

Objectives

At the end of this webinar, you will understand:

  • How the nominee role has changed since the introduction of the EIF.
  • How inspectors gather evidence to judge the quality of your provision.
  • The role and main responsibilities of a provider nominee.
  • The key characteristics of an effective provider nominee and who it should be.
  • What you can realistically do in advance of receiving notification from Ofsted for inspection.
  • The purpose of the planning meeting telephone call and what the lead inspector wants to know.
  • What to do between the call for inspection and the inspection itself.
  • Your likely role during an inspection, including any changes to that role post Covid-19.
