OVERVIEW

What responses the government might have to rising unemployment

Plotting the way forward

As we come out of lockdown and government support programmes change, there is likely to be the largest growth in unemployment ever seen. There is already a prediction that 2.66 million people could be unemployed by the end of the year, a doubling of pre-pandemic levels.

The Government will respond, and training providers and employers need to influence and respond to those policies to ensure that skills training is understood as a key part of an effective and successful strategy to rebuild the economy.

OBJECTIVES

This webinar will help delegates to understand:
  • The extent of the changes to the jobs and skills market
  • What the current employment and skills programmes are
  • The likely policy responses from government including apprenticeship guarantees, careers guidance, and support for the unemployed
  • Coordination of policies across government
  • The role of training providers and employers
  • Next steps

Target Audience

  • All providers with an interest in the opportunities and challenges of post-pandemic recovery. This webinar is targeted at senior managers within an organisation.
