What is a virtual 5K?

Our virtual 5K is a race that you complete where ever you would like. Choose your own route in your neighborhood or favorite park and run, walk or jog the distance to complete the virtual run.

How it works:

  • Register for the virtual run.
  • Receive your event gear in the mail. It will be shipped to the address you sign up with.
  • Complete your virtual run any time between Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 31, 2020.
  • Post your result! See "Where do I post my results?" below.

How do I select a course?

Selecting a good course is a very important part of having a successful virtual run.

We suggest running your race day course multiple times prior to event weekend to make sure there are no dangerous road crossings. Be sure you have identified a landmark for your start and finish, as well as your mile markers. For example, when you reach the white fence, you know you have completed one mile. Using apps to record your distance can help make sure you get the most accurate time possible. 

What are some apps I can use to clock my time and distance?

Apps are not required as you are welcome to use whatever tool you wish to use but here are a few we suggest:

Strava is the top choice of many runners both casual and serious, because it shows how you compare to your friends. Strava is compatible with all the latest GPS watches making it a great choice.

RunKeeper is another great app to track your runs and helps keep you motivated. Each time you reach your goal, RunKeeper celebrates too with a trophy and confetti!

MapMyRun is great if you’re traveling and will be completing your run away from your usual routes. With MapMyRun you can map out your own course of follow a course that someone else has created.

What if I registered for the live event but do not want to participate in the virtual event?

We hope you will continue to support this event but understand if you do not want to participate using our virtual format.  We would appreciate your donation instead, and would also be happy to defer your registration to our event in 2021. Please email registration@jsheainc.com if you would like to do so.

Where do I post my results?

You have two options:

  1. Upon registration, you will be sent an invitation to join our Facebook community. You may post your results there. 
  2. You can text your results to XXX-XXX-XXXX, along with a photo of yourself celebrating your finish!

How will I receive my t-shirt, medal and race bib?

Your t-shirt and medal will be mailed directly to you before the race week if you register before May 10.  If you register after that date you will receive it after the race week. Your bib will be emailed to you to print off. 

What are the winning categories?

Prizes will be given to the following:

  • CATEGORY 1
  • CATEGORY 2
  • CATEGORY 3
  • CATEGORY 4

Raffles!  We will be offering opportunities for registrants to win awesome prizes so the sooner you register, the more chances you will have to win!
