Overview and Learning Objectives:
Applying data analytics to the audit process can seem ambiguous and overwhelming when you are getting started. Join Brooke as he discusses what data analytics is in auditing, the benefits of incorporating data analytics into the audit process, common tools and technologies, the process for addressing audit questions with data analytics, and examples of how data analytics can be utilized in accounting.
Learning Objectives
Understand the role and value of data analytics in enhancing internal audit effectiveness.
Identify common tools and techniques used to perform data analytics in auditing.
Recognize real-world applications of data analytics in internal audit processes.
Evaluate the potential benefits and challenges of implementing audit analytics in their own organizations.
Bio:
Dr. Brooke Beyer is an associate professor of accounting at Kansas State University and also serves as the Deloitte Director of Accounting Analytics and Innovation for the Herbel Family School of Accountancy. He specializes in teaching accounting analytics and financial reporting. Additionally, his research focuses on the impact of technology on firm decision making, voluntary disclosure, and earnings management. Brooke received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and his Master of Accountancy from Kansas State University. He also has a Ph.D. in accounting from Oklahoma State University.

IIA–Kansas City Chapter Event Refund, Cancellation, and Complaint Policy:
The Chapter reserves the right to cancel an event due to insufficient participation or other unforeseen circumstances. If the Chapter cancels an event, the Chapter will notify registered attendees by e-mail a week prior to the event. Paid registrations will be refunded. No refunds will be granted for individual initiated cancelations. However, cancellations received prior to the posted registration deadline will receive a credit to attend a future meeting/seminar within one year. (Same number of CPE as the one canceled.) Event registrations are always transferable, so substitutions are allowed if are unable to attend. The chapter will make every effort to offer timely, well-delivered, and relevant training program. Please contact the IIA Secretary to register complaints related to the timeliness/accuracy of CPE credit reporting and the VP of Programs (Jamie.Paul@umb.com) regarding program delivery, complaints, or program content.
The Kansas City Institute of Internal Auditors is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
