Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit a paper for consideration for presentation at the 4th International Conference on the Effects of Noise on Aquatic Life from anyone with an interest in this field. The meeting will consist of invited talks, contributed oral talks, posters, and "lightening round" oral presentations for some posters. During abstract submission you will be asked which type of presentation you prefer. We will attempt to accommodate as many people as possible for oral presentations, but time for these is limited since we will not have parallel sessions. The choice of oral presentations will be decided by our advisory group, with the goal of having a set of diverse and balanced talks within a coherent program. Thus, since not everyone will be able to have an oral presentation, we would ask that you indicate alternative forms of presentation as well.

We are anticipating having a very generous award for the best student paper at the meeting (student being defined as anyone currently in an accredited graduate program or those who have received their advanced degree up to July 10, 2016). Please watch our website and abstract submission page for further information.

Lightning presentations

In the lightning round, a very successful part of the 2010 Cork meeting and 2013 Budapest meeting, individuals giving posters may request 3 (three) minutes to present the major ideas of their posters. We will do our utmost to provide as many poster presentations as possible with an opportunity to do a lightning presentation. If you would like to do a lightning presentation please be sure to indicate that when you submit your presentation.

Abstracts
Abstracts are due no later than March 13th, 2016. You will be notified of acceptance and told the type of presentation we are able to accommodate by April 15th, 2016.

Publication
All presenters are strongly encouraged to submit a full paper (10-12 page single spaced) to Proceedings of Meetings in Acoustics (POMA), an archival and open access journal of the Acoustical Society of America (see: http://scitation.aip.org/content/asa/journal/poma). The papers will all be together in a single POMA volume, publication of which is expected in early 2017. The template and procedures for submission to POMA will be made available on our web site by April 1st, 2016.

Paper submission to POMA must be between June 1st to August 1st, 2016 - late papers can NOT be accepted. Papers will be lightly reviewed and authors asked to make any changes needed.
Please note that anyone receiving any level of support to attend the meeting (e.g., travel, hotel, registration) from AN2016 are required to submit a paper to POMA before they will be reimbursed for their expenses.

Topics for presentations
Papers are invited on any aspect of the meeting topic (see list at our topics page here for more details). Be sure to note relevant topics when you submit your abstract. At the same time if what you want to present does not precisely fit one of our topics, you are still welcome to submit, but just indicate "other" and give us a suggestion for topic area.

Support for attendance
We are hoping to have some financial support for attendance at the meeting. Highest priority for financial support will be for students, post docs, young investigators and those coming from developing countries. All individuals receiving any support MUST be first-author on a presentation and MUST agree that they will submit a full paper to POMA. (Reimbursement will depend on submission and acceptance of the paper to POMA.) Others are welcome to apply for financial aid and we will do our utmost to accommodate as many people as our funding will allow. If support is not granted, payment at the rate in effect the day that the form is completed will apply.

If you want to apply for financial support, an application form (here) will be open from November 4th, 2015 to March 8th, 2016 at midnight GMT. There will be no consideration for late applications.

Timetable:
Titles and abstracts: March 13th Closing Submission date.
Notifications of acceptance will be April 15th.
Modifications on accepted abstracts can be made until May 30th.
