The National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network is the clinical research delivery arm of the NHS.

Funded by government, it provides an infrastructure of research nurses and clinicians in hospitals and doctor's surgeries across England, to support the timely recruitment of patients into clinical research, including life-sciences industry studies.

The Network also works closely with industry partners to develop and implement tools and services to streamline study set-up, provide intelligence on local patient populations, clinicians and facilities, and improve the performance of commercial clinical trials to time and target.  Such tools include standard costing templates and contracts, which dramatically reduce the amount of time companies spend in negotiations to conduct trials.

Last year, the Clinical Research Network delivered its highest ever number of commercial contract research studies, increased patient recruitment to commercial studies by 20% and doubled the number of studies delivered to time and target. www.crncc.nihr.ac.uk
