BREAKOUT SESSIONS

We had 12 different breakout session topics related to the Conference theme 'Staying Ahead of the Curve'.

Sector Trends & Innovation
Learn more about case studies and solutions to boost your supply chain

M&A in the Technology Sector: Accelerating synergies while staying resilient & customer-centric Your company just went, is going, or could go through a M&A? You are expected to drive high-value operating cost synergies while ensuring growth and minimizing risks? No other sector than the Technology Sector is disrupted by more mergers and acquisitions, and remains ripe for large M&A deals in 2016. Through customer case examples and an interactive approach this session will help you understand how to accelerate synergies in your supply chain while staying resilient and customer-centric after a merger.

Lead Logistics Partner: Changing your supply chain operating model Rapidly changing business models require focused leadership and flexible solutions. The LLP model represents a strategic partnership that drives transformational change in the supply chain. The session will address the different types of transformation models and benefits by reviewing real life case examples.

Aftermarket Supply Chain Innovation: Ubering Revers LogisticsThe central challenge of delivering innovation is to re-think established business challenges. This is as applicable to Aftermarket services, as it is for Uber and the new wave of market challengers. This workshop looks at delivering Innovation in the Aftermarket using best practices and case studies to help provoke new thinking.

E-Commerce Logistics: Solutions for multichannel supply chainsEffectively Managing E-Commerce supply chains in an Omni Channel market environment is a key challenge for retailers and manufacturers in all industries. Changing consumer behavior and shorter technology life cycles in a inhomogeneous Global market place require diverse and innovative logistics solutions. The workshop will focus on selected challenges and solutions within the Omni Channel Supply Chain and discuss today's and future demands driven by consumer buying behavior.

Supply Chain Transformation: Exploring levers how to achieve best-in-class supply chain performance Disruptive trends like growing customer expectations, shortening product life cycles, rising production cost etc. challenge existing supply chain models. Based on a concrete case example we will discuss how a company can initiate a transformation program and use levers like Nearshoring, Returns Management, Network Optimization and several tactical opportunities to gain competitive advantage.

Innovation @ Work: Robotics: Learn more about the impact of robotics in logistics  How can robots change the world of logistics? As some barriers in robotics are no longer there, robots will soon play a key role in our warehouses, distribution centers and even last-mile deliveries. In this break out, we showcase the current state of robotics in logistics and offer a vision of how our supply chains will be transformed by this emerging technology trend.

Circular Economy: Shaping supply chains for Circular Economy The concept of “Circular Economy”, replacing the traditional linear “take, make, dispose” economy, could dramatically increase resource efficiency, reduce reliance on the extraction of virgin raw materials, and at the same time, reduce unnecessary costs. The Technology Sector is at the forefront in adopting the concept, however, in real life, there is often a gap between idea and implementation. In this workshop we will review the role of supply chains and how logistics providers and the Technology Sector can jointly shape concrete logistics solutions to support the circular economy.

Doing Business in Asia Pacific
Learn more about how to be successful in high-growth markets

India: Next global powerhouse for Technology The momentum is with India these days. Structural reforms such as the GST implementation to simplify in-country trade, the government’ "Make in India" campaign to attract foreign direct investments to boost manufacturing, and a growing middle class with increasing demand for new products make India an attractive market for the Technology Sector. The session will address the background and actual execution on these reforms and highlight  the impact on companies' supply chains to capture market potential.

Vietnam: Booming hot spot for High Tech manufacturing Vietnam’s manufacturing sector is on the rise, fueled by both its young population and its low wages. Much of the growth is in low-end manufacturing of textiles, garments and furniture.  There are signs that this will change quickly as more electronics companies move manufacturing to Vietnam, and invest in R&D and training for a growing and dynamic young population. The session will explore why companies are considering investing in Vietnam, and lessons learned from companies that have made the move, including  implications for companies’ supply chains as a result of such a move.

Multi Modal Supply Chains: Policy changes driving higher efficiency in trade Geo-politics and trade-relations are dramatically reshaping value chains and production networks in Asia. Newly emerging FTAs such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership and bold new initiatives such as the One-Belt-One-Road will profoundly impact the way business and logistics are conducted. Emerging collaborative networks involving business, governments, NGOs and logistics companies will play a key role in aligning efficient trade networks. This session will address how the latest policy changes will effect Technology Companies and how multi-modal networks will become an integral part of newly optimized supply chains in Asia.

Security in Supply Chain: Customs and Security Risks and Opportunities Security and customs risks potentially pose significant challenges to a company’s supply chain, especially cross-border. Customs risks include non-compliance with regulations which could lead to financial penalties or higher inspections. Lost or damaged shipments, pilferage, terrorist or bomb threats etc. are some of the security risks. New security threats and pressure by Customs and Security agencies to secure their borders increases the risk of supply chain disruptions. In this session, you understand what are the best practices to turn customs and security risks into opportunities, and how to minimize supply chain and business impact.
