Singularity User Group (SUG) Meeting

MARCH 12-13, 2019
San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at UC San Diego

The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) and Sylabs have teamed up to bring the Community its first ever meeting of the Singularity User Group (SUG). Between Singularity, San Diego, and SDSC there’s ample reason to participate in SUG. We well understand that technical content is key, with the call for papers out the detailed agenda remains a work in progress.  Here’s how it looks so far:

  • Keynote presentations from SDSC researchers engaged in state-of-the-art use cases involving Singularity and supercomputers
  • Keynote presentations from the Sylabs team featuring Singularity (and CentOS) founder Gregory Kurtzer
  • Contributed presentations from the Singularity Community
  • Hands-on technical sessions to address the needs of Singularity users from the novice to the expert
  • Unique networking opportunities for users and contributors in the uniquely collaborative setting provided by San Diego, and SDSC in particular

The SUG Call for papers (CFP) has been issued, see page for details. Broadly speaking, we’re interested in learning from each other through practically oriented talks from Singularity end users to contributors.

The Silicon Valley edition of NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC) is being held March 19-21, 2019, in San Jose, California. We selected the SUG dates to complement GTC so that out-of-state and international visitors are provided with an excellent excuse to spend a little more time in California. We hope you agree and decide to join us at SUG in San Diego before heading to GTC in San Jose.

Finally, it’s important we stay in touch as SUG is evolving rapidly and we’ll need to limit the numbers of participants. Please sign up for event updates by sending email to If you already have some ideas on what you might like to present, feel free to float that by us in your email as well.

2018 has been a remarkable year for Singularity, and 2019 is already shaping up well. We look forward to meeting you at SUG!
