After over two years of recession Spain’s economy is finally showing signs of improvement as structural reforms and austerity measures slowly begin to take effect, but this is a cautious return to growth; the worst may now be over but the crisis continues, and an ambitious long-term strategy is required if stability and further prosperity are to be guaranteed. Aside from further reforms credit must start flowing again and greater support is needed for businesses to enable them to grow and compete on a global scale. How can the government and businesses work together to improve long-term competitiveness and generate employment? And what steps can Spanish companies take to boost growth both nationally and internationally?

FT Live is delighted to present its inaugural FT Spain Summit: Restoring Competitiveness, which will assess the country’s political and economic outlook, with an emphasis on strategies to stimulate growth in the future. This one-day event will serve as a high-level forum for government leaders, policy-makers and heads of industry to discuss the risks, challenges and opportunities Spain faces as it moves into a new era of recovery and regains its competitiveness.
