ROCK 2019 BREAKOUTS

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR BREAKOUTS CLOSES ON JAN 15. If you want to be sure you get the breakouts you want, please register before 1/15.  We STRONGLY recommend you pre-register for breakouts.  Space is limited.  Once a breakout is full, we will close registration for that breakout.  You will be able to register for breakouts at ROCK if they are not full.

AM Sessions are at 11:30-12:30.                    PM Sessions are at 6:30-7:30PM

Some breakouts are offered AM & PM. Others are only offered for one session. 

JOYFUL NOISE! ROCK MASS CHOIR with Becki Price -PM only – MAIN HALL -  Join 100 singers as they praise the Lord on Sunday morning at ROCK singing with a ten-piece band.  This is an additional $10 registration per person.  This gets you music to learn on your own and a tshirt to wear onstage on Sunday at ROCK.  To sing in the choir, you must pre-register.  There will be a mandatory rehearsal in the Main Hall on Saturday, Feb 9 (at ROCK) at 6:30PM during the evening breakout sessions.  That’s when you’ll get your tshirt which is your pass to get onstage on Sunday. “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!” Psalm 100:1

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOCUS - AM only –- A panel will discuss various topics around issues that Middle High students deal with. Issues such as self-esteem, peer pressure, social media, drugs, developing good Christian support systems and living your life as a child of God will be discussed. Some subject matter may be of a mature nature. Please be advised. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

SENIOR HIGH FOCUS - AM only - A panel will discuss various topics around issues that Senior High students deal with Issues such as peer pressure, drugs, self-harm, developing good Christian support systems and living your life as a child of God will be discussed. Some subject matter may be of a mature nature. Please be advised. “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians 4:6

ASK THE BISHOP with Bishop LaTrelle Easterling - AM Only - Our Bishop is a faithful, prophetic woman of God and is the first Africa American woman to be Bishop of the Baltimore-Washington Conference. This breakout will allow you to discuss different topics with our Bishop. She will answer pre-submitted questions as well as take them from the floor. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know our Bishop better. “Listen to counsel and receive instruction so that you may be wise later in life.” Proverbs 19:20

 

GAMES WITH CAMPING & RETREAT MINISTRIES with Camping Ministries Staff- AM & PMLearn new games that you can take back to your home church youth group. Explore the wonderful, faith-strengthening and fun opportunities available at the BWC camps.

This breakout involves physical movement You should be in good physical condition and be able to participate in the exercise. You should understand that when participating in any exercise or exercise program, there is the possibility of physical injury. If you engage in this exercise or exercise program, you agree that you do so at your own risk, are voluntarily participating in these activities, and assume all risk of injury to yourself. READING THE BIBLE with Dave Moyer, Maryland Bible Society – AM & PM –- Experience an exciting presentation entitled Simple Starts:Your Life-Long Journey in God's Word and learn how you can read and study the Bible, be transformed by its message, and begin to apply it to your daily life. If possible, please download your favorite translation of the Bible onto your phone before attending. If this isn’t an option, you will still be able to fully participate in this breakout. “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Deuteronomy 11:18

#RELATIONSHIP GOALS with ONE LOVE – AM & PM - One Love was started in response to the brutal killing of Yeardley Love by her college boyfriend. Learn more about the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships in your life. They will discuss warning signs of a potentially abusive relationship as well as what is love and what’s not. Some subject matter may be of a mature nature. Please be advised. “Love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:5

DEALING WITH LOSS with Rev. Deb Scott – AM Only - Loss can occur in many ways – death, divorce, moving away, losing friends and many others. This breakout will help identify areas of potential loss and how to deal with them in a healthy way. Some subject matter may be of a mature nature. DANGER SIGNS: Depression & Suicide warning signs with Rev. Deb Scott – PM Only - This breakout will help you identify some of the danger signs that you or a friend/family member are depressed or possibly considering suicide and ways you can facilitate getting them help. DISCOVERING YOUR PURPOSE with Rev. Dr. Stacey Cole Wilson – PM Only - What should I do with my life? God has a purpose for us all. In this breakout, you’ll explore various ways to discern God’s purpose for your life. “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

ADVOCACY & ACTION with Christie Latona - PM Only - There are many good reasons to be an advocate or to take action for something. This breakout will explore various ways to effectively advocate and take action for the causes you believe in as well as helping you develop your voice and leadership to inspire and motivate others. “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.” Proverbs 31:8

THEATRICAL ARTS & WORSHIP with Rev. Kyle Durbin – AM & PM - Explore a variety of exciting and innovative methods for incorporating theatre and other artistic elements into worship for an even more engaging, dynamic, and vibrant experience for all involved! “Worship the Lord with gladness.” Psalm 100:2
